Design for everyone. Including You.

It began with the fact that the Elon Musk greatly warned of the danger when artificial intelligence would seriously enter the war industry. The latest step is a collective call to ban the killer robots. (Which might be too late anyhow.)

But then, Caroline Sinders comes to what Elon has forgotten before that and how most (including his) technology contributes to discrimination.

In one sentence: "You should worry about who has a say over the future - the whole world is not D.C. or Silicon Valley - so how do we design for everyone?"

Including You, the reader of this post.

Here is yet her another article about how data is processed (in)correctly, on the basis of which we and artificial intelligence (mis)understand the world. And You.

Future.

"Silicon Valley entrepreneurs mostly view cultural, institutional, governance and even dating issues as technology challenges waiting to be solved. But the challenge and promise of a new future must be addressed holistically. The creations coming out of Silicon Valley in the form of apps, devices and software platforms are not so much facilitating a 'race against the machines,' but a race against our own social institutions, values and practices, and that is the future."

Boundary Spanners for Contemporary Problems

"It is logical to expect that if academia were to become more institutionally organized to tackle contemporary problems in the way that competitive firms are expected to behave rather than remain tied to historical disciplinary boundaries, then one would expect that boundary spanners would obtain better near-term outcomes."

Ouch.

"We do not invest in an idea, but in an enterpreneur or enterpreneur team. We have checked apx. 400 business plans in last three years and the idea itself is worth nothing in business. There is always 10 Slovenes more with the same idea, 50 Europeans, 100 Chinese... Business is competition - who will have the best team, the best strategy, the best marketing."

Only tools and mechanisms.

Technology is only a tool. Market is only a mechanism that separates effective from ineffective.

How we use technology (for nuclear weapons or nuclear power stations) and how much wilderness we leave on market - this depends on us only.

Art strikes again.

Interesting step forward has been made concerning my older post Reason art if you can.

Slovenian IEDC-Bled School of Management has opened center for innovative learning. What is innovative there?

"Different learning methods, especially with art techniques, helping people become more reflective, responsible and creative because art inspires. (...) In last years school is seeking for parallels between science, art and philosophy, which should lead students to become more responsible leaders."

Too good to be true?

Stay hungry. Stay foolish.

Nice passion, beauty and death philosophy from Steve Jobs to Stanford graduates. Goes with a thought I have just remembered, but I don't know where I have read it: "The goal of our lives is to live as long as possible and die as young as possible."

With Slovene subtitles. Found through Blaž Kos.

Be cool.

The power of managerial terrorism is not the only option when accomplishing common goals.

"Great ideas and shared values drive people. They call it - cool power."

I love this post.

Seven deadly sins in business

In the first post of his blog Business, sex and technologies Blaž Kos wrote that majority of the companies are taking advantage of human weaknesses. These weaknesses can be presented by seven deadly sins: lust, gluttony, greed/avarice, sloth/laziness, wrath/anger, envy/jealousy, pride/hubris/vanity.

(In Slovene the sins are: napuh, zavist, požrešnost, pohota, jeza, pohlep, lenoba.)

Sins or means for enjoying the life? Depends on your levels.
